Chicago Trip has now been canceled.
We are excited to announce that the Beavercreek High School Marching Band and Color Guard plans to participate in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Chicago, Il.
The band will be leaving on Friday, March 12th 2021 and returning on Sunday, March 14th.
We know there are many reasons why students didn’t march this fall and we didn’t want to leave anyone out if they would like to attend. Students being invited fit into one of the following categories:
They are currently a member of the marching band or guard OR
They are a student at BHS and enrolled in a band class OR
They are full-time online through BCS and would be in a band class if they were at BHS
We are using the travel company Bob Rogers Travel for this trip. They are very well known in the student travel world. The BHS choir has traveled with Bob Rogers twice and have had good success. All payments for this trip are between the parent and Bob Rogers. We will not be using Charms for payment processing but it will be possible to use money available in Charms (fundraised money etc) to offset the cost of this trip.
Attached are documents from Bob Rogers including how to register and pay for the trip (IPS registration form), an itinerary for the trip (Beavercreek HSB IT#2) and information about travel insurance (Travel Insurance Flier).
The deadline to register for the trip is October 1st and the 1st payment to Bob Rogers Travel is due October 8th.
A note regarding travel insurance and dates: As of today, The Greene County Health Department is not allowing student group travel. If this trip were happening today we would not be traveling. Ninety days (90) prior to our trip (mid-December) we will make a decision to proceed or not based upon Greene County Health Department mandates on that date. If we decide not to proceed at that point your money would be refunded minus non-refundable fees such as credit card fees (5%). This is regardless of whether or not you have elected to take travel insurance.
Travel Insured Student Deluxe Protection Plan is the travel insurance opportunity for this trip. You can take that insurance with or without “Cancel For Any Reason” (CFAR) coverage. The CFAR coverage covers you if you choose to not travel for literally any reason and costs $31.50 for our trip. Please study the attached document regarding trip insurance. As a fellow band parent, I strongly recommend you spend the $31.50 on CFAR. The insurance without CFAR doesn’t seem to make much sense.
Finally – we will need some chaperones for this trip. Chaperoning band trips is very fun and pretty low stress. The staff and student leaders take on most of the stressful tasks. Chaperones do still pay trip fees and typically travel at double occupancy instead of quad. While we need a minimum of 5 parents to travel with us we could take quite a few more. Chaperones travel with the band the entire time and receive the same benefits as a band member. If you would like to chaperone please reach out to me via email prior to signing up for the trip.
